The tax is set at 20p per milliliter and will apply universally to all vape juices, regardless of whether they contain nicotine. This measure was approved as part of the island’s three-year budget plan.
Government officials state the policy is designed to discourage nicotine consumption while keeping vaping products accessible enough for smokers using them as cessation tools. Under the new rules, travelers aged 17 and older will have a duty-free allowance of up to 50ml of e-liquid. However, all imports via freight or post must be declared to the Jersey Customs and Immigration Service. Failure to declare these goods will result in seizure, and repeated violations could lead to prosecution.
