The Bulgarian Parliament has ratified amendments to the Law on Tobacco and Tobacco Products, officially banning all flavored heated tobacco products starting January 1, 2024. This swift legislative shift aligns Bulgaria with European Commission directives, aiming to reduce the appeal of alternative tobacco products among consumers.
Beyond the flavor ban, the updated regulations mandate that all heated tobacco packaging display prominent health warnings. The Ministry of Economy and Industry is also empowered to prohibit any tobacco products containing additives that increase toxicity, addictiveness, or carcinogenic risks.
