The Bulgarian Parliament has passed a landmark bill banning the sale and consumption of vapes to minors under 18. This legislative action, aimed at protecting youth health, also enforces a strict ban on advertising e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products across national radio and television.
The newly approved law prohibits the distribution of non-smoking tobacco products, heated tobacco systems, electronic consumption devices, and their corresponding liquids and flavorings. Additionally, brands are banned from using trademark elements or product names in broadcast advertisements.
During parliamentary debates, MPs emphasized that many of these products have unknown origins and contents, posing severe health risks and acting as a gateway to traditional smoking. Following this crackdown, Bulgarian lawmakers are reportedly planning to review similar restrictions on energy drinks for children.
