Italy Blocks 8 More Vape Websites in Online Crackdown

Italian regulators give online vape shops until July 9 to comply with strict sales and advertising rules.
Italy vape website ban, ADM blocked websites

The Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) has added eight new web addresses to its blacklist of unauthorized online shops, raising the total number of blocked sites to 861. This action targets online platforms selling tobacco and vaping products illegally.

Affected businesses have until July 9 to regularize their online status. To avoid being blocked by the ADM, operators must remove restricted items, including disposable e-cigarettes and ready-to-use e-liquids, from public access.

The enforcement follows a ruling by the Court of Turin, which restricts how vaping products are marketed. Under the ruling, retailers cannot promote vape products using commercial discounts, flyers, or posters in physical stores.

While sellers may display technical specifications or flavor profiles, they must avoid subjective commentary designed to attract consumer attention. The updated blacklist, published on June 25, 2024, includes online vape shops, manufacturer websites, and digital showcases for brick-and-mortar retailers.
