Italy’s Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) has expanded its digital crackdown, blocking 909 websites for illegally distributing vaping products and state monopoly goods. Newly flagged online operators must remove all non-compliant inventory—including pre-filled e-liquids and disposable e-cigarettes—by December 18 to avoid access blacklisting across Italian internet service providers.
Under Italian regulatory statutes, online direct-to-consumer sales of specific inhalation liquids remain restricted to prevent tax evasion and underage access. The ADM issues ongoing blacklists to restrict consumer access to domestic and foreign platforms that bypass local retail permits.
Turin Court Restricts Vape Promotions and Subjective Claims
The enforcement surge coincides with an injunction issued by the Court of Turin, which sharply curtails how vaping products can be displayed and advertised:
- Commercial Discounts Prohibited: Retailers may no longer promote vaping gear through sales promotions, special offers, or informational flyers.
- Objective Descriptions Only: Product pages may list technical device specifications and basic flavor notes, but subjective phrases intended to attract buyer interest are barred.
- Immediate Domain Penalties: Online storefronts using prohibited marketing language face direct administrative orders and website blocking.
