Italy’s Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) enforced another round of tobacco price increases on May 6, 2026, marking the fifth excise adjustment this year. Driven by the 2026 Budget Law, the updated tariffs apply to factory-made cigarettes and cigars, raising pack costs by an average of 20 cents.
This price revision arrived just three weeks after the previous update on April 15. The price shifts range from 10 to 50 cents per pack, depending on the manufacturer and product tier.
Affected Cigarette Brands and Price Adjustments
The revised tax tables mainly adjust prices for specific cigarette product lines. For instance, Corset variants—such as Pink, Lilas, and Marine—now retail at €5.70. The King packs increased by 10 cents, bringing White and Blue versions to €5.30 and the Storm variant to €5.40.
These updates build on the April 15 tariff revisions, which altered the prices of 36 out of 299 cataloged brands across Italy.
| Brand | Product Variants Affected | Price Change |
|---|---|---|
| Corset | Pink, Lilas, Marine | Set to €5.70 per pack |
| The King | White, Blue, Storm | +10 cents (€5.30 to €5.40) |
| Davidoff (Cigarettes) | All 3 models | +30 cents per pack |
| Gauloises & West | All models | +20 cents per pack |
| John Player Special | All 14 models | +10 to +30 cents per pack |
| Peter Stuyvesant | All 4 models | +30 cents per pack |
Cigar Smokers Face Steep Tariff Adjustments
The May 6 update placed particular emphasis on the cigar sector. Premium brands including Zino, Plasencia, and Camacho experienced direct retail price revisions.
Davidoff cigars reached €6.80, while the premium Antico Sigaro Nostrano del Brenta rose to €13.50. Under the current fiscal strategy, Italian tobacconists and consumers should anticipate scheduled excise reviews to continue through 2028.
