Cross-party lawmakers introduce a bill to ban e-cigarettes and heated tobacco in enclosed public areas.

The Iași Local Council has introduced a draft resolution to ban smoking and vaping in specific public spaces. Following Cluj’s lead, Iași will become the second major Romanian city to implement these restrictions, targeting parks, public pools, and recreational green areas. Designated Areas and Penalties Under the proposed regulations, smoking of any kind—including electronic cigarettes—will be restricted to designated zones within these public areas. The municipality will have 60 days after the law’s passage to install clear warning signs featuring the international no-smoking symbol. Individuals who violate the ban face fines between 100 and 500 lei. The draft resolution remains open for public consultation for 10 days, with the local council scheduled to make a final decision in late August or early September.
