Poland introduces a ban on flavored heated tobacco products with a nine-month transition period for retailers.
Poland heated tobacco ban, flavored heated tobacco Poland

Polish President Andrzej Duda has signed an amendment to the national health protection act, officially banning the sale of flavored heated tobacco products. This legislative milestone aligns Poland with European Union directives aimed at curbing the appeal of alternative tobacco products to consumers.

The law will take effect 14 days after its official publication, giving businesses a nine-month transition window to clear existing stock. The ban responds to a massive shift in consumer habits; European Commission data shows EU heated tobacco sales skyrocketed by 2,009% in recent years, capturing a 3.33% share of the total tobacco market.

Meanwhile, Polish lawmakers are already preparing their next regulatory step. The Sejm is reviewing a separate bill that would ban the sale of all e-cigarettes—including nicotine-free vapes—to minors under the age of 18.
