Italy’s Council of Ministers has approved a fiscal measure to extend the validity of retail authorizations for e-liquids and manufactured tobacco from two to four years. Proposed by Economy and Finance Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, the reform aims to cut red tape for vendors and regulatory offices starting in 2025.
The provision is part of the national draft budget law for 2025 and the 2025–2027 multi-year financial framework. Under the text, the extension applies to all authorization requests submitted after January 2025. Permits expiring through December 2024 will continue under the previous two-year renewal cycle.
The policy adjustment halves recurring bureaucratic filings for commercial operators and regional branches of the Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM), streamlining regulatory compliance across the Italian market.
